This symposium will gather scholars, critics, musicians, and students to engage in critical analysis of Joel’s artistry, life, and legacy.

Cats in the Cradle 50th Anniversary is a feature length documentary film about the iconic song that has changed the lives of millions of parents and children around the world. The story is about the powerful universal effect the song has had on generations of parents regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or age. The song was written by Harry Chapin and his wife Sandy in 1974 and explores the relevance and power of the song 50 years later.
